Beschreibung: The main street of the village is almost undamaged except for a prominent shell hole in the side of one barn. A British Cavalry signals section of four men, possibly Scots Greys, crouches in an open field not far from the village as shells fall nearby. More shells burst in the open fields. A captured German 77mm field gun is covered by a British (or American) soldier with a heavily embroidered French flag (part of the flag's embroidery is the word "Revanche" - revenge). A British company rests in greatcoats and helmets against an earth bank. A small group of British support troops rushes up over a ploughed field to a foxhole, probably a shell crater.
British troops in the village of Prémont, near Cambrai, shortly after its capture by US 30th (Old Hickory) Division during the Advance to Victory, Western Front, 8th October 1918.
